Over a couple of years I had spent many hours watching motivational videos and SFM ads had popped up a number times.
Particularly the ad with Stuart on the pedalo in the Indian Ocean.
I also saw David Holborow’s video 2 or 3 times.
Eventually I clicked and watched it when I was on holiday and had a bit of downtime to relax and gather my thoughts and contemplate things.
At that time I was convinced that I needed to build additional income streams so that I wasn’t completely reliant on my salary from my job.
I knew that this was not a great situation to be in. I was also running out of runway towards retirement. Something had to give.
However, I had been burnt in the past.
A few years agot I invested a few hundred pounds into a multi-level marketing opportunity.
It didn’t really work out for me.
When I dug into it, I realised was going to be phenomenally difficult to make any substantial return without recruiting hundreds, if not thousands of people into my downline.
I guess the point of all of this was that I knew I had to do something but I wasn’t sure what it was that I was going to do.
So I pretty sceptical of the SFM at first I think.
But I was willing to risk $30 on the application to find out a bit more and to have a look at the first online training module.
I didn’t have great expectations.
However, the more I dug into it, the more intrigued I became and I began to think that maybe this was something that I could actually do and that could yield results.
There were still quite a few sticking points for me.
I had a lot of questions – Is this actually feasible for me? Is this a pukka business and am I going to be able to make a good financial return from it?
From early on I wasn’t concerned that it was a scam. I pretty much knew that this wasn’t the case from the professionalism and detail of the modules as well as the testimonials.
My available time was however a concern for me.
How much time was I going to have to put into this given the fact that I was working a full time job and I have a family?
The other thing, related to time, was concerns about the technical know-how and expertise that would be required.
I consider myself as mildly technical in that I can find my way around the internet and am proficient with Microsoft Office.
I also believe that I can turn my hand to anything with enough time to train myself.
However, when I think about that and where I am now and what I’ve put into building my SFM business I’ve got to say that I’ve not had to put in as much time as I feared I would.
Don’t get me wrong. It required a bit of time and effort.
But the structured training modules are excellent and they spoon-feed you through the process.
Also, the systems and tools are really easy to use so that it is actually quite easy to put together your own website which is linked up to your Youtube ads and your email marketing.
Basically, the modules cover everything you need to know from a technical or marketing perspective.
There are also terrific resources including weekly webinars where experienced leaders will answer any questions that you have.
They show you exactly how to do things then and there.
There are hundreds of recorded webinars. Youtube training courses. Everything associated with marketing, technical and even self-improvement training.
Another concern for me was that I might need expensive, specialist equipment.
Do I need fancy editing software?
Do I need a fancy camera, professional microphones, lighting etc?
The reality is that you don’t.
The video that I put together, that you clicked on, was shot using my iphone.
I used a cheap tripod that I bought in Currys/PC World with a cheap Bluetooth headset/microphone.
There are lots of resources available on the internet including free images and background music.
I put my ad together using a free app (iMovie) on my ipad.
It’s not polished or professional at all.
In fact it’s quite the opposite.
The editing is poor. The sound quality is poor.
But it’s real! It’s me.
So if these things are a worry for you then just erase these things from your mind.
My view is that people connect with people.
And these days people are highly sceptical of sterile, corporate messages.
We need to connect with people on our own level.
And when I put this video together I was trying to connect with people like me who can relate to what I have to say and have the same understandings and fears as I did.
Like people who are highly reliant on a job that turned out to be not particularly stable for them. People who need a financial safety net. Or people who want to earn money to put their kids through college.
Whatever your motivation.
That’s the thing about this – it’s real and the resources and support within SFM is also real!
